Domain name renewal and expiry

Our policy and practice regarding domain name renewals and expiry.

Renewing domains

Where the registrar allows, domains name registrations are renewed on a biennial basis unless a different period is specified by our client. We will send out an email notification 30 days prior to the domain name expiring requiring our client to confirm the renewal and the period. Upon receipt of our client's confirmation of renewal we will send an invoice and begin the renewal process. Our clients are responsible for making sure we have their up to date contact details.

Expiry of domain names

Clients who do not wish to renew a domain need to contact us within a minimum of 30 days before the domain expires.
If a client requests that they no longer wish to have a domain name renewed by us, it will be left to expire and all services we provide regarding that domain name will be suspended.

Specific policy for expiry of .uk domains

For .uk domains, the following applies after expiry: the client's domain name will go into a 30 day protected period after which the domain will be suspended by the registrar, Nominet, and it will go into a 60 day grace period. If our client changes their mind and then wish to renew the expired domain name, they still can and at the original renewal price. This must be requested by email before the 80th day after the domain has expired; after 90 days the domain will be cancelled and deleted from the register and made available for resale through a third party registrar by Nominet. We cannot guarantee the renewal of a domain name after this happens.
